Some pearls are never found. They hide under the sand on the ocean floor. No one knows they’re there. But the pearl knows. — Mike White, “Enlightened”
The distance you feel between yourself and others, even those closest to you, will never go away. The human experience, at its core, is about that chasm; not so much your willingness or refusal to come as close as you can to knowing others and being known, but what you do with the space that you cannot cross.
The alone cannot be escaped.
This is the cost of being and it is a suffering no beating heart can go without contending. There is pain in that place and there is joy; and they see-saw, and they bend, and build, and barricade you.
And this alone is that which no other can truly know.
